It’s not easy to find peace in the middle of a crisis or a devastating loss. And the aftermath leaves us in shock. We wonder if life will ever get better but at the same time we don’t have an ounce of energy to care. It’s not that we don’t want to… it’s that we’re numb, very numb.
Still we put one foot in front of the other and go through the motions of life. We go to work, care for our family, take out the garbage, fill the tank with gas… because we have to.
Yet tomorrow, or next month or next year we’re still going to be going through the motions of life unless we choose to make more of the life we have. No… we don’t have to do it all and we don’t have to do it all right now. But there is something, some little thing we can do that will move us closer to the peace we so desperately want. What is that for you?
For me it’s sitting in my bedroom, where I spent my last days with Jack, and where I find comfort. Despite his suffering he showed me what courage and grace look like. And it is in this place that I feel him lifting me up to find my own courage.
Make finding your peace you priority. It is from that place you’ll begin to care about making your life what you want and need it to be for you.
With love, Cheryl
