Why I Say “Happy Holidays”

Fotolia_4948204_Subscription_Monthly_MWhen I started Simple Steps in 2009 I wanted it to be a place where all people who came in a spirit of love & kindness would feel welcome.  I call it a “safe harbor” where beliefs are respected and adversity is left at the door.  Regardless of what my spiritual practices are… they are mine and not something that I have any desire to impose on anyone else.  That is also why Simple Steps Real Change Magazine shares diverse voices because everyone gets their message differently.

My views might not be shared but at least they create an environment were everyone feels welcomed & supported.  So I say “Happy Holidays.”

On this Christmas Eve I’d like to say to those who are Christians, “Merry Christmas!”  May the spirit of this holiday live in your souls and bring you joy and happiness.

For those who celebrate Hannukka, I say “Happy Hannukka.”  May the spirit of this holiday live in your souls and bring you joy and happiness.

For those who celebrate Kwanzaa this week, I wish you “Happy Kwanzza!”  May the spirit of this holiday live in your souls and bring you joy and happiness.

While these are only 3 of the holidays that are celebrated this time of year… for anyone celebrating something different I say, “May the spirit of this holiday live in your souls and bring you joy and happiness.”

It doesn’t matter to me what anyone’s religion or spiritual beliefs are.  I believe we are all part of this wonderful universe and have the right to believe in a way that works for us.

May your life be blessed.

With love, Cheryl
