Tiny Simple Steps

Every day brings a new experience to those of us who have gone through significant loss… and to anyone who finds themselves in a place they never expected to be. The hardest times for me are when I’m alone. I miss my husband and the simple pleasures of our marriage. He’s not here for me to talk to or laugh with and as much as I love my friends and family… it’s not the same. When we find ourselves struggling with all we miss there is nothing that will every replace it. So I don’t try to pretend there is. For me, instead, I find myself talking to Jack and acknowledging how much it hurts that he is not here. And when the tears stop I ask myself how I want to feel next. I don’t want to live in sorrow even though I am right now. What do you want your life to be like next? Whether it’s in the next hour, day, month, year… it’s important to just think about where you want to head. Then decide to take a tiny step… or even just dip your toe in the proverbial waters where you want to find happiness again. We can do this… I believe… and I hope you do too! (No matter how hard it is right now.) Much love, Cheryl
