2017 Reflections

Come January 1st I’ll focus on 2018.  For now though it’s about looking back with love, with gratitude and with amazement.  That doesn’t mean there haven’t been challenges and situations that are heartbreaking… it just means we can see the last year in a way that gives us hope.  Are you willing to do that for yourself? 2017 was the year my mother died.  I am grateful for the time I had with her and look back on her last fully conscious day when we had a wonderful time together.  I am grateful that she is free from both her blindness and her dementia. 2017 was the year I made the effort to break out of my comfort zone. I left my home for 2 weeks and traveled to Ireland.  It was a wonderful trip.  I met good, kind, people and saw a beautiful country.  What I am grateful for most though is it made me realize that while I am not limited to my home life I prefer it.  The life I have and the one I’ve chosen feel good to me and I’m happiest here. 2017 was the year that I transitioned from being a sad widow to having moments of sadness.  I still miss Jack everyday but I’ve come to realize that there is more in this lifetime that I am meant…
