We all understand the fabulous benefits of gratitude. When you’re grateful for what you have you say to the Universe/God/Your Higher Power, “More please.” And you receive more because of your gratitude.
What if though I asked you to be grateful for the challenges, the hard times and the difficult people? Would it stand to reason that you’d have more of those too? Guess what? The answer to that is a big fat Nope! Because when you express gratitude for those parts of your life that are difficult you’re giving thanks for what you have learned from them. You’ve discovered your strength, resolve and resourcefulness! And that’s what you get more of… strength, resolve & resourcefulness. And don’t you have times when you need more of that?
The other benefit of being grateful for the tough times is that when the next one rolls around you’ll be more able to deal with it. It’s the “been there, done that” attitude and with that more and more of what previously caused you to stress out becomes a non-issue.
You embarked on this journey called life without a roadmap or instruction manual. The best you can do is the best you can do… but every new step, experience or interaction teaches you about yourself. In time you come to realize that you’re stronger than you thought, determined when you need to be and capable of creativity beyond your wildest dreams. And isn’t that an awesome realization? ?!?
Journey on dear friends… journey on!
