Fear Focused?

What’s your biggest fear?  I’ve gone through a few from being alone to being homeless.  Neither of those ever came to pass.

Then there are those little fears that occupy our minds and have us obsessing almost uncontrollably.  You know what those are… wondering what someone else might think, worrying if what you said might be misinterpreted or even fear that someone might do something that could keep you from doing something.

We give way too much time to our fears. Did you know that only 7% of our fears ever come true.  When I first heard that statistic this light went off in my head.  Geez… why am I wasting my time on the 7% when I could be focusing on the 93%?  Do you really want to obsess on something that is highly unlikely to happen?

There is however one other big point to consider.  What we focus on is what we experience.  It’s the Law of Attraction in action.  So if you focus on your biggest fear you’re actually drawing it into your life.  Why would you want to do that when you could be focusing on your wildest dream and calling that to you?

I know that sometimes this is easier said than done… but it is easier if you choose it to be.  Try this Simple Step when you’re ready to get what you want… not what you don’t want:

  1. Decide what you want most in life.  For example perhaps you want to be financially secure.
  2. Visualize in detail what that means to you.  This has to be your definition… not what someone else thinks it to be.
  3. Every time a negative thought,  worry or fear pops into your head on the subject just say “NO! I am not living my life there anymore.”
  4. Now immediately recall your visualization.  Stay in that place for a minute or two until you are feeling it again.

When you make the concerted effort to replace those worries and fears with what you want instead you’re focusing on the 93% likelihood that it will come true.  And that sure feels better than where you were!

After learning about books from Louise Hay and Marianne Williams, I also started to learn how to reverse the feeling of "fear, fear, clutching fear", the reason for my burning stomach, into the feeling of Love. A close friend taught me to say, "Cancel, cancel" every time I heard myself say or notice that I was thinking in any kind of a negative or fear-based way, and especially if it was about mySelf. After what may have been a million or more "Cancel, cancels" over the years since then, it gets easier to fight fear everyday. I know it can become second-nature, beginning the moment we decide we will replace it with Love. 🙂
