What Do You Believe?

What do you believe by SIMPLE STEPS

Do you want a pile of money to fall into your lap, the right partner to show up or a new job to be offered to you out of the blue?  Oh how wonderful that all those would be!  You want all these great things to happen yet you’re thinking about how to make ends meet, sure that all the “good” ones are taken and know that your company doesn’t care about you. 

When we focus on the negative aspects of life we see miracles as pipe dreams.  And if there are others who have these hopes we tell them to “get real.”  Because we expect the worst… that is exactly what we experience. 

You create your own reality.*

It all comes down to what we believe.  We live our self-fulfilling prophecies.  Change your beliefs and you change your results.  It’s simple…  Yet not always easy.  If you’ve believed one way for most of your life then it’s going to take persistent effort to change. It is however well worth it if you want to bring more positivity into your life.

Here is a Simple Step to start you in the direction of changing your beliefs:

  • Choose a very basic belief about yourself and explore where it came from.  For example if you believe that you will never be in shape or that you can’t lose the weight you want perhaps this is because you have tried different diets and programs in the past and haven’t been successful.  Your family may have a tendency to be out of shape and you believe you’re destined to follow their path.
  • Decide how you want to change your belief and create a positive statement in the “AS IF” form.  For example you may say, “I am healthy, fit and strong.” Notice that the affirmation is stated in the present tense.
  • Post your affirmation where you’ll see it regularly, carry it with you, set it up as your screen saver. 
  • Take action.  A Simple Step if you will.  Maybe walk around the block a day or two each week.  Park your car farther away from the store or your office and add a few extra steps.  You don’t have to do it all and you don’t have to do it all now.  However by taking positive action now you move closer to your goal.

The point of power is in the present.*

Nothing that happened to you in the past… or anything that might happen in the future can effect your progress… unless you let it.  When you choose to focus on what you can do right now and take action you’ll discover that you’re moving closer to your goal.  Sure they might be baby steps… but they are steps closer to where you want to be.  And with each step you are altering your belief and turning “I can’t” into “I CAN!”
