Do you believe that others are responsible for your happiness? Do you think that your life is determined by fate? Have you decided that you can’t get past where you are right at this very moment so you have given up?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions then you are probably living the life that you will always live…that of the “victim.” Is that how you feel about yourself? That the events of your life determine whether you are happy or not?
To those of you who believe this way I encourage you to just say NO!
Every minute of every day you have the ability to choose what your life is about.
I look to Viktor Frankl for inspiration here. Viktor was interned in a German concentration camp during WWII. From his experience he wrote, “Man’s Search for Meaning.” It was in his and others’ suffering that he came to the conclusion that even in the most absurd, painful and dehumanized situation, life has potential meaning and that therefore even suffering is meaningful.
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” – Viktor Frankl
Regardless of what you are experiencing right now you have the ability to choose whether you grow from the experience or be buried by it. The choice is yours.
It takes only a Simple Step to choose between happiness & misery. Choose to be happy. That just feels better!
