Friends Walk With You Through the Fire

Today we’re going to talk about real friends…If you watched Jack’s Video Quote of the Day (today) it is by Oprah…she says:

“Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.”

You know who your fair weather friends are.  The ones that are there when life is good…but let there be a divorce or problems with your kids…or you just have a bad day and they stay as far away from you as they can get.

Then there are true friends. The ones who tell you when you have food in your teeth rather than let you walk into a room looking like an idiot.  A true friend shows up at your door when they know that you are going through a rough spot… they are there to just be with you and help in whatever way you need.  (The way your family does when someone dies.)

So what about you?  Are you that friend?  It’s not just about what a friend gives you…it is what you give to them.  Friendship isn’t about convenience or what’s in it for someone.  It’s about love, understanding, compassion & laughter.  After all…you can laugh at yourself with a good friend and not take offense.  You can’t always do  that with your family.

When life is over it is not going to be about the amount of stuff that you gathered…it will be about the compassion and love that showed others.

If you have a dear friend that you haven’t talked to in awhile….life got in the way…today is the day to call or write them (of course hearing your voice will make their day.)  It may be about making amends for being absent…or just telling that you love them.  Whatever you feel you need to do…remember that it is a Simple Step to make a telephone call…and for today…that is good enough.

Share your love.
