I love my weekends. Jack doesn’t have to work and we have time together. I’m about to start a new job so those weekends are going to be even more precious. While I love the weekends…I don’t want to “live” for them.
The way that I see it living for 2/7ths of my time here on earth isn’t good enough. Every day I have a chance to embrace the day…enjoy the quiet and the not so quiet moments and remember that I make the day what I choose it to be.
There are little things that make my day. I enjoy waking up and having a few minutes of peace enjoying my diet coke… For you it may be coffee or tea… During this time I’ll sit in my comfy chair, look around the room and be grateful for my wonderful husband, my family which includes CJ and the cats (we have 5). It is times like these that the Kenny Chesney & Dave Matthew’s song, “I’m Alive” plays in my head. Here are some of the lyrics
“It’d be easy to add up all the pain
And all the dreams you sat and watched go up in flames
Dwell on the wreckage as it smolders in the rain
But not me…I’m alive
And today you know that’s good enough for me
Breathin’ in and out’s a blessing can’t you see
Today’s the first day of the rest of my life and I’m alive
And well…I’m alive and well”
How about you? Are you focused on the good in your life every day? Try this very Simple Step to start your day off right:
- Every morning get up a few minutes early.
- As you sit and drink your favorite wake up beverage look around at your surroundings.
- Count up all the blessing that you see.
- Give thanks…
Carpe diem! Seize the Day!
